Please allow me to (re) introduce myself... My name is Mick! Born and raised on the Mighty Miramichi River in a little community called Renous, also known as God's Country!

I grew up playing sports at a high level, and fell in love with health and fitness as an adult. I found the sport of functional fitness in 2018 and loved how it allowed me to express my desire for continuous improvement and my competitive side even after my most competitive days were behind me.

I am truly grateful for being able to help so many athletes along their journey, whether or not it's been a perfect climb along the way, we've all grown together - and that's what really matters!

Staying active has always been important to me, whether it was in a traditional gym or going for a run outside. The more I learned about the changes I was able to make, both physically and mentally, the more passionate I became.

When I found out about functional fitness, I was instantly intrigued. What I love most is the fact that everything can be scaled to fit your individual skills and abilities. It has taken my fitness journey to another level. I love that I feel like I’m always growing.

While coaching at Magine Athletics, I want to make things as fun as possible and make safety a number one priority! I’m excited to help new athletes find their love for functional fitness, and help current athletes continue to grow.

I discovered functional fitness way back in 2010 and soon after teamed up with another female athlete while for the “Who’s Your Daddy” adventure race. That same year I competed in several sprint triathlons, as well as a "Tough Mudder" obstacle race. In 2011 I ran the Ottawa Marathon. I have also competed in Powerlifting at the National level and Bodybuilding at the Regional level. I am very much goal-driven and always willing to try something new!

I am a certified Powerlifting Coach, a spin instructor, and Women’s Specialist Coach.

I believe that fitness is for everybody and EVERY BODY (type)! Don’t let your fears, doubts or injuries hold you back from movement. I am blessed and honoured to play a role in your fitness journey will probably celebrate your PRs with you with a giant hug! (No worries if you’re not a hugger - double fist bumps and up-top high fives work too!!)

“Do not stop thinking of life as an adventure. You have no security unless you can live bravely, excitingly, imaginatively; unless you can choose a challenge instead of competence.” -Eleanor Roosevelt.

I got into functional fitness in October 2022. After having weight loss surgery I wanted to become more active and get stronger.

As someone who did not live an active lifestyle prior to functional fitness I was so nervous thinking I didn't belong or that I had to be at a certain level before I would be welcome.

I fell in love with it as soon as I realized not only how wrong I was but how inviting and open the functional fitness community could be.

I decided I wanted to become a coach because I wanted other beginners to have the same experience I had. That functional fitness will meet them wherever they are at and there will always be a space for them in this community!

Whether it's celebrating PR's, congratulating you for getting through a tough workout, or just acknowledging the fact that sometimes the heaviest thing in the gym is that front door I look forward to supporting and encouraging you ALL as functional fitness athletes!
